HAIR ON THE LOOSE - The Return of Shedding Season

We all know that shedding season isn’t the best time of year for pet owners - there seems to be a limitless supply of fluff across the house that is unavoidable. Especially if you have a wonderfully furry friend who has the best winter coat - it’s warm enough now that it’s time to go.

Here are some of our tips to help your hound when it comes to de-shedding (usually just as spring has sprung and the days are getting warmer):

HAIR ON THE LOOSE - The Return of Shedding Season

1. Groom regularly

Regular baths will help remove that dead hair and contain it (water makes the fur heavier and easier to clean up!). Our Fragrant Fur Coat 3-in-1 Brightening & Conditioning Shampoo not only smells amazing but does everything for your dog's coat in one easy step! We’ve also made sure it doesn’t lather too much to reduce skin irritation or the chance of shampoo getting in doggy eyes. Wash regularly during the de-shedding period to help reduce the amount of hair on the loose in your house.

2. Get a de-shedding brush

Our friends at Groomi have a fabulous brush that will help make de-shedding a breeze. Brushing daily is a great way to remove dead fur in the coat.

3. Drying properly

The use of a great towel will help after bath time to get the last bits of hair out before drying - our Glove My Dog Natural Bamboo Towel is 40% more absorbent than microfibre and the natural material of bamboo feels better on the fur (at least according to all the happy hounds - read our review section here)

4. Diet

Make sure your dog has a healthy balanced diet - if you are concerned over the amount your hound is shedding they may have the wrong diet. Check in with your vet about the right options for you.

5. Get your hound to the groomers

Our collection is a great way to help your hound de-shed in between trips to the groomers, however it is important to keep up your regular appointments with your groomer to ensure shedding at home is kept to a minimum. Our friends at Tuft make booking a groomer an easy task with an app that allows you to read reviews and book a groomer in your area. Sniffe them out here

Washing your dog’s fur coat and keeping their skin in tip-top condition isn’t just about ‘smelling nice’ (although that’s important too!)… it’s what they should expect as part of feeling loved and properly looked after. We found a great article and a study about how effective grooming is at eliminating dirt and grime.
